Marian Piecha graduated in Civil Engineering at Brno University of Technology. He completed his doctoral studies at Czech Technical University in Prague. He then obtained a Masters of Law degree from the University of New York in Prague.

In 2008, he became director of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Investment at the MIT. From 2013 to 2014 he was Director General of the CzechInvest Agency. Since 2014, he was director of the MIT SME Support Department. He was appointed Deputy Minister responsible for the EU Funds Section on 1 February 2018. In addition, he lectures at the University of Economics in Prague and is a member of two university councils.
