Henryk Kowalczyk

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministy of Agriculture and Rural Development

Born in 1956 in Żabianka.
Member of the Polish Sejm of the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th parliamentary terms.
From 7 June 2006 to 16 November 2007, he was Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and government plenipotentiary for the shaping of the agricultural system.
On 16 November 2015, he was appointed Minister without Portfolio in Beata Szydło’s government. He also took up the post of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers.
He served as Minister of the Treasury from September to December 2016. Also in September 2016, he became Vice-Chairman of the Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers. On 11 December 2017, he took up the post of Minister without Portfolio in the newly formed government of Mateusz Morawiecki, and again became chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers. Chairman of the Committee on Public Finance from 2019.
He served as Minister of Environment from 9 January 2018 to 15 November 2019. Since 2021, he has been part of Prime Minister Morawiecki’s Council of Political Advisors.
On 26 October 2021, he was appointed by President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
