Robin was a British diplomat for 40 years. He served three times in Poland, starting during martial law in 1982 and concluding as Ambassador from 2011 to 2016. His other roles included Ambassador to Romania and to Ireland. Much of his career focused on Central Europe and security policy. But he also ran the UK’s visa issuing operation and was a Managing Director at UK Trade and investment. Among other responsibilities, he was part of the UK Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty negotiating team and spent time at the British Embassy in Kyiv during the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014. He now lives in Warsaw working as a strategic consultant and commentator.
