Tom Young, First Secretary, Head of the Interior Policy, Human Rights & Public Diplomacy

Tom Young is First Secretary Political at the British Embassy in Warsaw, where he heads the Domestic Politics, Human Rights and Public Diplomacy Section. He has worked for the UK Diplomatic Service for 11 years. Previous roles include Chief of Staff to the Director-General Europe, Deputy Speechwriter to the Foreign Secretary, Deputy Head of the Iraq Team, and Second Secretary Political at the British Embassy in Cairo. He was also seconded for two years to the Department for Exiting the European Union, as Private Secretary to the Permanent Secretary. Prior to joining the Diplomatic Service Tom worked as a Research Associate at the James Martin Centre for Nonproliferation studies in California, United States. He studied at the University of St. Andrews and King’s College London.
