Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the Polish Academy of Sciences

Professor, PhD, works at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Member of, among others, the Committee on Geographical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Committee on National Spatial Planning of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Committee on Migration Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Committee on Demographic Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Government Population Council, the Main Urban Planning and Architectural Commission, the Commission on Geography of Settlement and Population of the PTG. His interests include population studies (including migration), regional and local development, transportation geography, electoral geography, landscape aesthetics, and urban planning. He has authored and co-authored more than 400 papers in this field, including some 30 monographs. Since 2005, he has coordinated reports on the status and progress of planning work in municipalities, and participated in the preparation of, among others, the National Strategy for Regional Development (2011), the Concept for Spatial Management of the Country 2030 (2011), the Strategy for Responsible Development (2016) and the National Urban Policy (2022), and led the delimitation of problem areas in Poland (2016, 2020).
