She works at the Institute of Sociology at Jagiellonian University as a full professor. Her main research interests are in the sociology of migration and economic anthropology with a particular focus on issues of consumption (and consumerism). She is the author of under 100 publications in this field including several books, the most important being: "A Short Lecture on Commodification" (2015); "A New Road to Enslavement? On Life in a Consumer Society" (2011); "A Thing about Work and Consumption" (2007); Cultural Implications of International Migration" (2003). She is currently a member (second term) of the Migration Research Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
