Jan Macháček is a Czech publicist and musician. He covers political, economic, European and geopolitical issues. He currently publishes his columns in the Czech daily „Lidové noviny” and writes a daily online column „Monitor JM”. He also provides analysis for Czech radio and television stations. In 2015, he became the Chairman of the Program Council of the Institute for Politics and Society. He participates in setting the strategy and agenda of this think tank, as well as in organizing debates and conferences on various political and economic topics. Between 2011 and 2015, as Chairman of the Council, he participated in the creation of the Vaclav Havel Library program.
