- Founder and president of the International Association "Europe-North-East" organizer of the Baltic Business Forum - an annual international economic forum in Swinoujscie dedicated to cooperation in the Adriatic-Baltic-Black Sea region (with the participation of Ukraine and Turkey) and the Forum of Intermodal Transport Fracht

- From 2001 to 2005, he headed and co-directed the Ministry of Economy in the Polish government. In Leszek Miller's government he was Minister of Economy, and in Marek Belka's government he was Minister of Economy and Labor. He was responsible for, among other things, economic cooperation with foreign countries, regional development, tourism, energy security, restructuring of the mining, metallurgy and armaments industries, creating conditions for the development of entrepreneurship and absorption of EU funds. He negotiated with the European Commission the terms of Poland's accession to the EU in the area of competition policy, headed teams negotiating offset programs with Lockheed Martin, among others.
