Grzegorz Piechowiak

Secretary of State, Government Plenipotentiary for Foreign Investment

On August 17, 2021, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appointed Grzegorz Piechowiak as Secretary of State in the Ministry of Development and Technology.

From January 19, 2020, he served as Secretary of State at the Ministry of Development and then at the Ministry of Development, Labour and Technology.

At the same time, he holds the position of Government Plenipotentiary for Foreign Investment.

Grzegorz Piechowiak was born on September 14, 1963 in Piła. He is a sociology graduate of the Faculty of Church Historical and Social Sciences at the Academy of Catholic Theology in Warsaw (currently UKSW). He also completed postgraduate studies in "Managing an enterprise in crisis and bankruptcy" at the Higher Vocational School Kadry dla Europy in Poznań. He is licensed as a receiver and qualified as a candidate for supervisory boards of sole shareholder companies of the State Treasury.

In 1992-1997, he worked as Vice-Consul at the Polish Embassy in Rome. In 2002-2006, he was a councillor in the Pilski Poviat Council as a member of the Alliance for Local Governments, and subsequently served as Director of the Transport Department at the Poviat Starosty in Piła (2007-2008). For several years he also ran his own business.

He is a member of Polish Sejm of the 3rd, 8th and current term of office, where he chairs the Polish-Italian Bilateral Group and the Parliamentary Group for Police.

He co-founded the Stanislaw Staszic State Higher Vocational School in Piła. He was awarded (in 2018) an honorary title and the Legatus Almae Matris medal by the University Senate.

Awarded the Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (in 2000).
