Modern forms of payment undeniably offer a number of benefits, but new regulations are needed for them to function optimally. The growing popularity of cryptocurrencies increasingly argues for the introduction of digital money on a large scale, combining the advantages of traditional cash and virtual currency. This would be money that functions alongside other forms of money: cashless, electronic and physical cash. Are digital currencies a promising area, not only from a consumer perspective, but also for the banking sector and capital markets?
